Successful Vertical Space Construction Solutions For Small Restaurant Square Footage

Challenge

This restaurant’s square footage was very small and required creative solutions to maximize the potential tables’ revenue. In order to fit everything required for the restaurant, the layout and materials would need to be adjusted to maximize space and enable effective operations. Also, to increase the potential restaurant revenue, a beautiful patio was desired for this small space, but the investment may have exceeded the owner’s budget.

Solution

A mezzanine was created to produce a better working flow of the restaurant and to leverage vertical space for operational and storage needs. Due to the restricted available space, food coolers were made higher with ladder access, condensing units were stacked and an organized inventory, office and staff area were constructed in the vertical space.

Result

Space was maximized vertically enabling a more efficient, functional operational flow and streamlining an organized inventory management process. Understanding the lease requirements, the owner was able to minimize their budget by constructing significant tenant improvements, resulting in an impressive glass lined patio which wrapped around the entire restaurant with multiple fireside seating areas.
