Innovative Solutions for Constructing a Restaurant in an Active Hotel

Challenge

The new Browns restaurant was to be constructed in an active, open hotel. The restaurant would be situated over a parkade and below the hotel’s high-end customer suites. Four months into construction development, significant design changes were requested requiring the team to go back into demolition mode.

Solution

To enable the massive design changes requested on the project during construction, the TYTO team modelled and maintained a positive attitude for their crew. Tyler quickly expedited and prioritized the TYTO Approved team members (link to page) work (glasswork, tilework, millwork, electricians, plumbing, etc.) to minimize the project timeline impact while ensuring food safety and fire safety requirements were met during the construction changes. The entire front entry, patio and ceiling was changed, and the roof was temporarily supported to enable the safe and major removal of a 16-foot by 40-foot wall.

Result

Sound tests were done for both the high-end suites above the restaurant and the adjacent banquet hall producing zero sound transfer. A remarkably beautiful restaurant was constructed with a welcoming patio, open ceiling and stunning entranceway. The TYTO and Browns teams were proud of the innovative, safe and effective problem-solving solutions that were implemented to produce the mid construction adapted design vision.
