Restaurant Construction

As restaurant construction experts, we know the required end result for your restaurant to be successful now and in the future.

Did you know that our founders have owned and built multiple restaurants in their careers? They are well-versed in what it takes to run a successful restaurant, diner, cafe, fast-food concession, pub, commercial kitchen or bar. Our team members understand the unique and mandatory construction considerations for the needs and safety of food service operations.

A restaurant construction job is much different than a family bathroom or kitchen renovation. It’s also unique, in some ways, compared to other commercial construction work.

In truth: building a restaurant can’t be done without the forethought and planning of several legal and business aspects. These details can have a direct impact on profitability. They can be overwhelming for restaurateurs, especially if it’s their first time entering the industry. On top of it all: timing is everything. Opening on schedule is crucial, and we take that into account in our processes.

Our restaurant construction expertise offers more than the build of your physical space. We can provide expertise and advise on all aspects of the project from the concept stage to the moment your first customer’s meal is served:

  • Engineering and architecture
  • Exterior and interior design
  • Planning within franchise and lease contracts
  • Preferred pricing on industrial kitchen equipment
  • Operational efficiency
  • Lighting and electrical systems
  • Audio, visual, data and integrated control systems
  • Pest control and easy-clean build techniques
  • Restroom bylaws
  • Seating capacity bylaws
  • Food safety and liquor licensing
  • POS and payment systems
  • Design efficient use of space and storage
  • And more

When it comes to restaurant construction, we build for your practical, ‘wear and tear’ expectations

Commercial spaces like restaurants constantly evolve to uphold their appeal. The hardware and materials needed for restaurant operations must be able to handle years of heavy use. They also need to make your employees’ jobs faster, and provide a return on your investment – literally.

For example:

  • Stainless Steel or tile surfaces where needed for longevity
  • Waterproofing walls and floors in wet zones to avoid mold and rot
  • Using quality tile grouts to handle chemicals
  • Designing kitchen and bar area for heaving washing
  • Using durable products to save money and time in the long term
  • Installing the refrigeration that meets the size and volume of the business.
  • Adding proper backing where needed to secure mounting and fixtures
  • Designing proper use of space so your high traffic areas are organized for high volume production
  • Using every possible space for efficiency and storage
concealing pipes and supply lines to reduce exposure to dirt and grease. Everything is a clean wipeable surface
  • Organizing items to minimize wasted space. E.g placement of fire extinguishers, controls, A/V equipment, bulk
  • Windows and doors need proper egress and escapability in case of emergencies.
  • Access to crawl spaces, water tanks, heaters, electrical panels and grease traps should be convenient, not to mention well-labelled (and built to code!).
  • Food prep areas should be properly located for easy access to supplies, equipment and front-rooms, without obstructing kitchen walk-throughs.
  • Ensuring equipment reaches specified temperatures within specifications.
  • Flooring, plumbing and tile materials need to be long lasting, and easy to clean. They must account for build-up of grease, grime and heavy foot traffic.
  • Audio Video system designed to maximize sound quality and ease of use and located in a convenient secure place.
  • C02, beer and pop lines…
  • Proper hands free faucets for food safety.
  • Post-launch testing and adjustments of all Audio/Video equipment, bar and beverage systems, refrigeration, cooking and prep equipment, fire suppression, cleaning and disposal systems, lighting system and proper dimming, plumbing, HVAC and more…

Much of the above requires access to tradespeople who are experienced in restaurant construction. Our “TYTO Approved” team members possess those qualifications and love working with us and our clients too.

We’ll give you a restaurant construction design that brings back customers for its comfort, mood and ambiance.

Our restaurant construction design services can be tailored to your ‘tastes,’ or made to match your franchise brand guidelines.

At the end of your project with us, we provide you with detailed manuals of specifications and information from the build. From light bulb wattage, to paint codes, equipment manuals and more – you’ll never be ‘without’ when you need to plan for additions or replacements.

Working along side TYTO has always been a priority for my company as we prefer to work on high quality, well-managed projects and with those who understand the importance of great communication.

This restaurant’s square footage was very small and required creative solutions to maximize the potential tables’ revenue.

In order to fit everything required for the restaurant, the layout and materials would need to be adjusted to maximize space and enable effective operations. Also, to increase the potential restaurant revenue, a beautiful patio was desired for this small space, but the investment may have exceeded the owner’s budget. Learn how the TYTO team successfully designed and constructed an impressive and efficient space despite the significant space constraints.
