Residential Construction

Ensure your home renovation is as liveable in 20 years, as it is today.

Planning for a home renovation means knowing how you’ll use your space, today and tomorrow. Residential construction is often thought of as a prolonged investment. It’s one that isn’t likely to change again in the next 30 years. But, it pays off over time. That is, when it’s done properly.

Our kitchen and bathroom renovations, for example, help you with a long-term plan that is professionally designed from the beginning. This saves you from ‘re-work’ later. If you have your own construction drawings, we can certainly use those. If not, we can create them for you, using industry professionals. If you have sketched out ideas, or even a Houzz or Pinterest board to show us, we’re happy to turn them into professional drawings for you, too.

We’ll turn your dream home into a reality with renovations on:

  • Kitchens
  • Bathrooms
  • Living rooms
  • Dining rooms
  • Bedrooms and closets
  • Hallways and mud rooms
  • Laundry rooms
  • Home offices
  • Basements
  • In-law suites, rental suites or other income property
  • Decks and gardens
  • Driveways and garages
  • And more

Our approach to renovating a home is not so much about heavy foot traffic, but more about being liveable now, and in the future.

To that end, we believe homes should not just be built to code. They should also be ‘made to last’ when it comes to workmanship and materials.

Plus, there are many logistical details that homeowners often forget about, when designing or planning a home makeover. Our professional residential renovation services make the process a breeze. This can not only save you time, it can save you the cost of re-doing work, or re-buying materials, when mistakes are made.

Our well-planned renovations always consider the following requirements:

  • City bylaws on salvageable material require carefully de-constructing interiors before renovation. We make it easy if there needs to be removal of old construction material that contains asbestos or other hazardous material.
  • Electrical wiring and controls need to be modern technology and future ready (USB chargers, and ‘smart’ wireless controls are all important considerations these days).
  • Energy-efficiency in windows, appliances, and other materials needs to be factored into the long-term budget.
  • Drywall and tiling needs to be mould-resistant. Or, hidden mould needs to be taken care of, first.
  • Aging in place systems need to be brought into question (i.e. whether to build ramps and rails now, or later).
  • Interior design needs to be neutral and timeless, while still being what a homeowner absolutely loves.
  • Wall dividers and layout modifications should consider structural support needs.
  • So-called, ‘kid-treatment’ needs to be factored in to material decisions. For example: floor strength, carpet spills, bathtub slippery-ness and more. Even the height of showerheads, towel racks and countertops is important.
  • Resale value, or rental income, needs to go into budget and design considerations. For example: bright orange paint in a kid’s room is ok, because it’s easy to re-do later. Bright orange tiles are a different story.
  • And, the list goes on

Then comes the fun part: home decor, interior design and finishes.

For homeowners, interior design options can be overwhelming, too. But we’ll save you the headache of decision-making by narrowing your choices.

Working in the industry gives us an edge when finding what you want, or being able to show you a design you never considered possible. If you need us to, we’ll even do the shopping for finishing touches, like tiles and paint colours. Need us to go back for more swatches? We have no problem with that, either.

We know that creating an interior you’ll look at everyday is important.

I would highly recommend TYTO if you are looking for a renovation for your home.
