Process

We’re the Vancouver, Lower Mainland construction company that thinks ‘two steps ahead.’

We do everything possible to ensure our end-product will serve you for decades to come. Giving you value is at the heart of our work. In construction, process is what differentiates quality from shoddiness.

Thinking ahead, and considering all the ‘what ifs,’ is what makes a general contractor the ‘best’. Our reputation as a construction company matters to us, a lot. We offer a two-year warranty on workmanship. When it comes to your commercial contract, restaurant build or home renovation, you want to hire someone focused on the construction process. You want someone who is organized and skilled at making the experience as painless as possible for you.

The TYTO Way Construction Process

How we work with our clients is what truly differentiates us from other construction and project management companies. We ensure our projects are successful by working in an organized, accountable, integrous way – all while maintaining consistent communications and budget accuracy.

We believe there are six stages for successful construction. We CONSULT with you to determine what you need, we SPECIFY and confirm your exact project requirements, PLAN the construction details to minimize risk, BUILD with a professional, quality team, INSPECT to ensure we meet safety and construction regulation requirements and SUPPORT you with warranties and communications after your build is complete.

How We Work Differently

FEASIBILITY & COSTING ACCURACY

Before we take on your job, we’ll make sure you’re going to be happy with what we can provide. We’ll take a look at your site’s feasibility, to make sure it’s prepped for renovation or new construction. Our quoting process takes us several hours. That’s because of the extensive research we undertake to properly price your project. Before assuming a charge, we’ll contact our TYTO Approved contractors to find the true price on painting, electrical, plumbing, and more. We’ll also shop for quality cabinets, tiles, bathtubs, sinks, faucets, light fixtures, appliances and whatever your project requires. We visit your site, and measure, of course, to know we’re calculating for enough materials.

ONE-QUOTE PROMISE

When we give you a price, it’s the last one we’ll give you. Of course, that’s barring unforeseen circumstances (like mould or bad construction hiding behind your walls). Or, a revision in scope on your part (like changes of mind, or additions you want to tack on to your project).

CONSISTENT COMMUNICATIONS

We give you a comprehensive schedule of construction activities. You’ll know which days a certain sub trade will be in, and when another will arrive. We follow up with weekly reports to keep you in the loop about what’s done, what’s next, what’s current, and for what reasons.

OPERATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY

We’re not ‘distant’ project managers who can’t immediately answer to the details of your job. A representative from our company is always on-site, in addition to our very competent sub contractors. As owners of a construction company, we’re not just delegating; we’re hands-on, supporting our crew to get the job done right, and on time. Nothing we do is haphazard; we know that good businessmen take care of their customers, by taking care of their operations.

TYTO recently completed a renovation in our home. The entire project was accomplished on-time and within budget. Everything, including the plumbing, framing, electrical, dry wall, flooring, and clean up were top quality. We highly recommend them to tackle any renovation or construction project, no matter how big or small.

Keeping Our Promises

In addition to our promise of attentiveness, we promise we will always:

  • Fully research the cost of construction, to avoid surprise overages mid-way through it. Before we say, ‘yes’ to you, we price every detail of your job, to ensure we stay within the budget you give us.
  • Hire sub trades with adequate insurance and licensing. This protects your investment, and ours.
  • Use qualified tradesmen, even if they take longer to find, or cost a bit more.
  • Keep ‘hidden’ construction organized, properly-installed and finished. That includes everything behind drywall, in ceilings or beneath floors.
  • Use quality materials, even if it means lower margins for us.
  • Install certified equipment we can vouch for. We avoid inferior, imported brands without certifications in Canada.
  • Do that tiny bit ‘extra’ to make a design feature ‘perfect’ (even if we have to take a small financial hit).
  • Take the time a task requires, to avoid a badly-done job. We are mindful of deadlines, but we won’t let that ruin the quality of our construction work, if that’s what it comes down to.
  • Let you know if we think you’ve made a poor design decision – especially one that will affect how you use your space.
  • Follow instructions from your designer or architect.
  • Follow all legal building codes and pass inspection for occupancy.
  • Support you at the end of your project, when ‘real-life’ usage starts to show.
  • And more…

TYTO Construction is the professional construction company that will stop, think about your job requirements, and properly plan them out before knocking down your walls.
